Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Sydney is ranked in the top twenty faculties worldwide for humanities and social sciences and offers the widest choice of subject areas for undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research students in Australia. Our tertiary level programs range from one-year undergraduate diplomas to postgraduate coursework degrees and professional research doctorates, providing flexibility for students and researchers aiming to specialise and variety for those with diverse interests. Graduates from the Faculty of Arts can expect to take up positions in research, development, policy, media, teaching, management and other key areas of modern economic and social life.
Our faculty includes internationally recognised researchers across a range of disciplines in the humanities, liberal arts, media and communications, social and political sciences and languages. Domestic and international undergraduate students can further develop their research skills by including an honours year in their degree program or complement their humanities studies by combining their Arts degree with a degree in Education, Information Technology, Science, Nursing, Commerce or Music.

New PGARC facility for Postgraduate Research Students
The Faculty of Arts has officially opened the new Postgraduate Arts Research Centre (PGARC) in Fisher Library. PGARC Fisher provides research students with access to physical resources such as computers, photocopying, printing and phones in a ‘hot desk’ environment while providing students with a stimulating environment where they can meet and discuss ideas and research.

Faculty of Arts Excellence in Teaching Awards
The 2009 round of Faculty of Arts Excellence in Teaching Awards are now open. Designed to recognise the teaching excellence of staff at all career levels, the Teaching and Learning Committee encourages all teaching staff in the Faculty to submit names for consideration.
