Exchange students
With an international exchange, students can undertake approved overseas study, with the credit achieved counting towards the completion requirements of their degree in the Faculty of Arts. It's a great way to enrich a degree, improve career prospects, and best of all, see the world.
An exchange student will enrol in exchange units of study at the University of Sydney whilst they spend time overseas. HECS is paid in Australia rather than the overseas institutions fees and this can mean substanital savings at some prestigious international universities.
Students can apply to spend one or two semesters at an overseas institution of their choice. The Faculty of Arts has over 70 exchange partnerships with universities throughout the world.
It is not necessary to know another language as some countries teach classes in English, namely USA, Canada, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. Some universities offer a large range of classes in English even though this is not the native language of the country - for example, universities in Belgium, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Sweden, Mexico, Israel, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand.
Contact the Exchange Office to request a detailed prospectus and application form. The Exchange Office also holds seminars on exchange programs during the semester.
