Electron Microscope Unit (EMU)

The Electron Microscope Unit (EMU) is a centralised provider of research services for microscopy and microanalysis at the University of Sydney.
The EMU provides infrastructure and staff to enable registered users to characterise physical and biological materials by use of electron microscopy and microanalysis, focused ion beams, optical and confocal microscopy, scanned probe microscopy, atom probe tomography, x-ray microtomography, x-ray fluorescence, x-ray diffraction and other techniques. It is accessible to researchers across the campus under a subscription system, and numerous training courses are available during the year. Through its role as headquarters of a new national microscopy and microanalysis research facility, the unit also offers researchers
access to an even wider array of characterisation technologies.
