About Australian Studies

This interdisciplinary program examines Australia in its various historical, cultural and political contexts. The program emphasises comparative perspectives, focuses on the processes of migration and cultural transmission, and studies links betweeen the rest of the world and indigenous and non-indigenous Australian culture, society and history.

The program is available within the Faculty of Arts at The University of Sydney, for students who wish to complete a major study as part of their undergraduate Arts degree where permitted. It is also available to other students of the University. International students wishing to study in Australia may find it particularly useful.

The University has excellent resource for Australian Studies, in the Fisher Library and the Koori Centre, as well as the resources of participating Departments in the Faculty of Arts. Students also have easy access to the Mitchell Library (State Library of NSW) and NSW State Archives.
