Master of Arts

Requirements

A Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent, with a major in a relevant subject area. It is also possible to transfer from a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, subject to satisfactory progress.

Degree Structure

Students will complete eight coursework units of study in total. A dissertation (between 12,000 and 15,000 words), counting for two units of study, may be counted towards the degree but it is not compulsory. Once submitted the dissertation cannot be re-written. Candidates must pass each unit of the degree.

Attendance in the Master of Arts can be either part-time or full-time.

Part-time candidates normally take one or two units of study in each semester, across six semesters. The dissertation is completed as a series of two units of study (at any time during the candidature).

Full-time candidates normally take three units of study and Dissertation - Part 1 in the March semester; then three units of study and Dissertation - Part 2 in the July semester.
