Degree Regulations 2003
Degree Total
A total of 192 credit points is required to complete the degree comprising:
- 72 junior credit points as a maximum
- 120 senior or intermediate credit points as a minimum
The exact combination of junior, intermediate and senior credit points can vary depending upon the student's particular program but the maximum and minimum requirements must be met within the overall total e.g. the most common combination is for a student to undertake 48 junior and 144 intermediate and senior credit points .
Junior Total
The maximum of 72 junior credit points comprises:
- 12 credit points from one subject area as a pre-requisite for the Arts Major
This is the usual pre-requisite for most Arts Majors however some majors may have different pre-requisites e.g. Australian Literature units do not begin until senior year and have a pre-requisite of any 18 junior credit points.
- 12 credit points as a pre-requisite for the Information Systems Major

- 24 credit points as Electives from the Table of Units (Part A or B) Please Note that it is likely that at least 12 of these units will be from Part A, to provide enough preparation for the senior Part A units the degree must contain

A total of 48 credit points per year is the usual enrolment for students studying full-time and is the maximum enrolment for first year students. An additional 24 junior credit points may be done in later years depending on the program of study chosen. If the student chooses to do only 48 junior cps the extra 24 cps may be taken as senior credit points.
Senior or Intermediate Total
The minimum of 120 senior and intermediate credit points comprises:
32 senior credit points for the Arts major
A major is the term given to a set program of study in a particular subject which is usually taken over a three year period.

Every BAI Student must take at least one of :
ARIN3500 Digital Technology and Culture Project 1 (8 cps) or ARIN3600 Digital Technology and Culture Project 2 (16 cps)
40 credit points of Elective units from Part A or Part B
The minimum number of Part A credit points is 72 comprising the Arts major, ARIN2000, (ARIN3500 or ARIN3600 or both) and elective units. The exact number of Part A elective credit points is dependent upon whether ARIN3500 or ARIN3600 or both are completed. These elective units may either be in the same subject area as the majors or in any other subject area. In the case where only 48 junior credit points are used the remaining 24 credit points may be added to these electives, allowing for another major if desired.
