Digital Cultures Internship Program
Digital Cultures has introduced an internship program for students in the BA (Digital Technology and Culture) and the Bachelor of Arts Informatics from 2007. Senior students spend a minimum of 20 days in a workplace relevant to their studies and interests. They work with a supervisor at the organisation, learning about the professional environment, and developing current skills. They also have an academic supervisor who guides them to write analytically about their experiences in the placement.
Internships benefit both students and partner organisations. Students in the BA (DTC) have strong skills in research, critical thinking and communication, as well as an in-depth understanding of the current technological environment. Therefore these students will contribute to the workplace immediately. Students get invaluable workplace experience, as well as an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between academic and industry practices.
Information for organisations
We are keen to find organisations that use information and communication technologies, and who understand the benefits of hosting internships. We are looking for employers in both information and communication technology sectors, and in the cultural, government and business sectors to register their interest in our Internship program. The range of workplaces that may be relevant is very broad: it includes any organisation that makes strategic uses of information technologies to communicate with its own staff, or wider communities.
