Student employment opportunity
zfweb is a boutique web company based in Darlinghurst in Sydney. We provide design, development, hosting and ecommerce to small businesses as well as consulting, project management, web software and user interface advice to big businesses.
zfweb is currently looking for final year students who can work casually, potentially moving to full-time/permanent once they finish their degree.
While we're flexible on the actual computing skills you may have, the following are essential:
Reliability
We expect you to commit to deadlines, call when you're sick and do the work you're asked to do.
Availability
We have flexible start times and will work around uni commitments but you must be available regularly i.e. one or two weekdays per week.
Attention to detail
Good spelling and grammar are essential plus you should be prepared to put in the extra effort to make the website you're working on perfect.
Personable, enthusiastic, showing initiative, well presented and a good communicator
At zfweb no one is just client facing or just behind the scenes. We all answer the phone, we all do filing, we all run errands, write emails and attend meetings. You can't be above a bit of admin work, or shy away from talking to a client.
Computing Skills
We don't expect you to be an expert coder or an award winning designer. A lot of the work we do is repeat work, so the website is built you often will just be doing updates. We often just need someone to do some research into web-based products, and report back as to which is the best and why. We operate in a mac environment but use PCs for testing.
We progressively train you in the languages and software that we use to make sites, but if you're happy to do the odd online tutorial in your own time to improve your skills then you're more likely to get more work.
Rates
We start out our casuals on $20 per hour. You may be asked to do a half day trial before we take you on though.
How to apply
Please don't send us a CV unless you have commercial experience in the web or new media industries. Instead we ask for a paragraph or two describing yourself, your skills and why you're interested in working in the web.
Email Kirstin Bokor, Internship Officer, who will forward your letter to the appropriate person.
