Enquiries from the public and from HSC students

Staff of the English Department are happy to answer enquiries from members of the public. Please note however that we cannot undertake to answer enquiries that demand extensive or detailed research or a lengthy answer. It may be possible in such cases to direct enquirers to written sources of information.

It will expedite your enquiry if you scroll through the entries under Staff on this website and locate the person whose expertise is most suited to your enquiry. You can then email that person directly. Otherwise, you can email the ‘general enquiries’ address shown on this page.

We regret that members of staff do not act as advisors or mentors to students undertaking a ‘Major Work’ for HSC English. One reason for this policy is the heavy workload carried by our staff in performing their normal teaching and research duties. Another is equity: it would be unfair to act in this capacity for some students and not others.

Many staff members give lectures on HSC texts at study days organized by schools and other bodies. They would normally expect to be paid the current fee for such lectures. Further resources concerning HSC English studies are available on the websites of the Board of Studies and the English Teachers Association:
