Visiting Scholars

Our Department receives many inquiries about the status of Visiting Scholar. Regrettably we are able to accept only a small number of such visitors.
Applicants must in the first instance make contact with a staff member who shares their research interest, describing their research project and the preferred length of their visit. It is necessary that a staff member be prepared to sponsor a proposed Visiting Scholar.
It will be to the advantage of applicants if they can show that as a result of their term as a Visiting Scholar they will publish original research that acknowledges their affiliation with this Department.
Once this sponsorship is agreed, the sponsoring academic will supply the necessary forms and requirements. Sponsoring academics can find these at:
http://www.usyd.edu.au/sydneypeople/leading/immigration.shtml. (Access to this site requires University of Sydney staff member authentication.)
A visiting scholar will be entitled to library privileges, e-mail access, and attendance at relevant seminars and lectures (with permission of the instructor). Due to constraints on space we are able to offer study accommodation only in exceptional circumstances.
At the discretion of the Chair of Department, a Visiting Scholar may be required to contribute guest lecture(s) or seminar paper(s).
Thank you for your interest in this Department.
