A guide to applying for postgraduate study
Having considered the options available, candidates should make an appointment to discuss their plans with the postgraduate coordinator. A specific program tailored to your interests, experience and qualifications can then be worked out.
If you have studied at institutions other than the University of Sydney, please bring with you any documentation concerning your previous studies in French, including:
- copies of certificates, and any official transcripts of previous academic records (or failing that a written summary of completed courses in French); and
- a copy of any substantial dissertation or research project completed in French.
It is helpful if candidates already have a fairly clear idea of the work they are interested in when contemplating a course which allows some choice of subject matter from the beginning (for example in a primarily research degree). Please note that approval of candidature is contingent upon the Department's ability to provide adequate supervision in the student's area of interest.
Having obtained approval of your plans from the Postgraduate Coordinator, you should complete the appropriate form for admission to candidature.
Applications should be lodged with the Arts Faculty Office by the closing date.
Candidates are notified by letter when their application has been approved, and are given instructions about formal enrolment procedures, which take place in February each year.
Re-enrolling students automatically receive instructions about how and when to renew their enrolments.
