Consultation and representation of postgraduate French students

The department has always sought close relations between staff and students and strives to ensure that everyone has access to the decision making processes.

To this end postgraduate students elect a representative to be a member of the department's Staff-Student Liaison Committee, and serve as the liaison between the department and SUPRA (Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association). Election is held at a meeting of postgraduate students organised early in the academic year.

Postgraduate students are encouraged at any time to discuss individual problems with teachers or supervisors, with the postgraduate coordinator or, if the matter is of a more general or difficult nature, directly with the chair of department. Every attempt will be made to deal with problems promptly and fairly as they arise.

In the University and beyond, your interests are represented by SUPRA, whose officers have been active for some years in efforts to secure appropriate conditions for postgraduate work. SUPRA can also give you a wide range of advice and information on practical matters connected with your study. Their recent publications include a Postgraduate Survival Manual and Practical Aspects of Producing a Thesis.
