Ingrid Wassenaar is a former Fellow of Christ’s College and University Lecturer, Cambridge University. Her doctorate on Proust was published as Proustian Passions (OUP, 2000). She has also published Marcel Proust: A Beginner’s Guide (Hodder, 2000), and various journal articles. She was the holder of a British Academy Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship, and the Kathleen Bourne Research Fellowship at St Anne’s College, Oxford. She is currently writing a literary and cultural study of indifference, which looks at novels, films and TV in contemporary France as a testbed for understanding how indifference informs our mental and moral behaviour. She is also writing a novel set in the Netherlands during the Second World War. She convenes the Departmental Research Seminar.
