The DAAD (The German Academic Exchange Service) offers a range of scholarships for students. These include:
- one-year Scholarships for postgraduate students;
- one semester German Studies scholarships for students studying towards an honours degree;
- ‘Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs’ scholarships offer the opportunity to particpate in a special course (in German) providing language instruction and concentrating on historical and cultural aspects of contemporary Germany for stuundergraduate and graduate students from all fields with at least 2 years of university level German at time of application.

Established in 1991 by a bequest of $50,000 from Ms Margaret Mabel Sefton Delmar in memory of her father, the purpose of the scholarship is to assist undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in Germanic Studies to travel to one or more German speaking countries in Europe for the purpose of improving their knowledge of the German language.
