Dr Sabine Jasny has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Sydney since February 2007 where she is a lecturer for German as a foreign language (GFL).
Dr Jasny received her PhD in GFL from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (Germany) where she also completed her MA degree in GFL, Germanic linguistics and Romance languages linguistics. Before coming to Australia she worked as a lecturer for GFL at the University of Bielefeld (Germany), Department of German as a Foreign Language. As an expert for GFL, she conducted teacher training for international GFL teachers at the Goethe Institut Munich (head office) and developed teaching material. Sabine grew up in Munich/Bavaria.

Current projects
Dr Jasny's current research concentrates on concepts for GFL in theory and practice in Australia.
In the area of German culture studies, Dr Jasny is coordinating the project Shpoorenzoohe in Sydney together with Dr Andreas Jaeger. This research project of students of the German Department connects 10 places, where traces of Australian-German links can be discovered, to a guided walk through Sydney's CBD.
