Master of Philosophy
Subject Areas: Hebrew and Judaic Studies; Biblical Studies
Entry requirements: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with a good honours result in Hebrew and Judaic Studies and be able to use Hebrew or Yiddish sources with ease. A prospective candidate should consult appropriate staff members to formulate a research proposal on an agreed topic (approximately1000 words). Certain candidates may be required to take particular course units or undertake prescribed readings. Candidates may be admitted on a probationary basis (for a period not exceeding one year). Good candidates with no language background but a strong undergraduate training in Judaic Studies may be admitted to probationary candidature while taking course units in the appropriate language.
Applicants may be admitted in Semester 1 or Semester 2.
Doctor of Philosophy
Subject Areas: Hebrew and Judaic Studies; Biblical Studies
Entry requirements: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with a good honours result in Hebrew and Judaic Studies or a Master of Philosophy. Candidates may be admitted on a probationary basis (for a period of one year).
The PhD degree consists of a program of independent study and research under supervision. A prospective candidate should consult appropriate staff members or the chair of department, in order to formulate a suitable research topic and discuss supervision. The department requires a written research proposal of about 1000 words on a topic agreed upon.
Applicants are admitted in Semester 1 and Semester 2.
