Ian Young has been teaching Classical Hebrew, Aramaic and Biblical Studies in the department since 1989.
Research areas
- language of the Hebrew Bible, especially linguistic dating of biblical books;
- textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible;
- canonization of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament.

- In 2004 I presented papers at the Gilgamesh conference at the University of Sydney and at the Society of Biblical Literature conference in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
