Assessment
Students are required to:
- attend lectures and tutorials;
- participate in class discussions;
- complete satisfactorily all set oral and written work;
- attend and complete all set examinations.
The way the department's units of study are assessed differs according to their aims and objectives. In general, all assignments and other items of set work within any unit of study are collected and it is in the student's interest to complete all work on time and to perform consistently. Marks are, as a rule, given as a percentage and the marks allotted to each section of the unit of study will reflect the time devoted to it throughout the semester. In assessing written as well as oral work, lecturers in the department will be looking for demonstrated effort, abilities and skills as set out in the following areas below. Please note that individual units of study may have additional and more specific requirements and criteria. These will be made clear to students by the lecturer coordinating each unit.
