HSTY2608 - European Film and History (2008)

Of the 188 students enrolled in this course 62% completed the evaluation. Of these 96% found the course to be satisfying in its quality and content, while 90% agreed that the course stimulated their thinking and helped diversify their approach to the subject matter.

Students were highly impressed with the teaching of this course with over 90% finding the teaching to be stimulating, effective and helpful and the staff responsive to student needs. Students also found that feedback from staff was both timely and constructive. The comments mentioned the clarity and enthusiasm of the lectures by Judith Keene, and the knowledge, enthusiasm and openness to discussion and new ways of looking at film by the tutors Dr Bruce Isaacs and Ivan Coates.

The overwhelming majority of students found the on-line resources and reading pack to be of great use and despite the extra hours required with a weekly screening as well as a lecture and a tutorial, there were few complaints about excessive workload. By and large the students enrolled in the course, 96% found the course enjoyable and worthwhile.
