History Department Response to Student Feedback
HSTY2609 - African American History and Culture (2006)
Unit Coordinator: Dr Clare Corbould
Feedback for this course was overwhelmingly positive. 99% of students agreed or strongly agreed with the proposition: "Overall I was satisfied with the quality of this unit of study."
Fewer students than in either 2004 or 2005 agreed with the proposition that the workload was too high (only 13%). I'm surprised by this result, since students began taking more units of study each semester in 2006 than they had previously (because of the change to the number of credit points in each course). It does reflect my decision to reduce the reading load from 2005. Informal feedback during and after semester, however, suggested that some students were struggling to read everything they needed to so in 2008 I will think more creatively about reading assignments and written assessments to offset the increased number of units of study students are taking.
