USSA : University of Sydney South Asia Research Network
USSA, the University of Sydney South Asia Research Network, was established as a way of bringing to together those of us across different faculties working in different disciplines but with a shared interest in the South Asian region: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.
This network will provide a means of promoting the study of South Asia across the university by providing
- a forum for collaborative research activity within the university;
- a forum to host lectures by visiting scholars;
- South Asian business;
- political and industry and community leaders;
- an ongoing lecture series;
- postgraduate supervision; and
- online activities and resources by way of a specially dedicated web presence.
The USSA Forum a preliminary research workshop in which scholars will introduce their research, is taking place on Tuesday 10 November. Please click menu item at left or follow this link to the USSA Forum page.
This network is also being established ahead of the University-wide move toward Area Studies which is currently in the consultation stage. The USSA research network provides a means of setting in place a university-wide body of South Asia scholars which will take its place in the eventual University Area Studies model.
We welcome expressions of interest from scholars whose work, teaching or research is either directly or indirectly related to the South Asian region, who might wish to be involved in the USSA research network. This will also allow for a greater picture to emerge of South Asia related work that is already being done across the university.
