Academic Honesty and Plagiarism

All students need to be aware that the Faculty of Arts has a very strict policy on the matter of “academic honesty”, otherwise known as the avoidance of cheating.

Details of the policy are available here.

Please be aware of the way in which the strict rules on academic honesty can sometimes seem to contradict other learning habits which we always encourage in Indonesian units of study. Working together with other students, or asking for help from an Indonesian friend, are great ways to practise and extend what you learn in class. However, except in the case of a ‘group project’, which may form part of your assessment, it is absolutely essential that the work you submit for assessment and your performance in tests are entirely your own work. Get help wherever you can, and share your learning with other students. Just remember that when it comes to assessable work, this must be a true reflection of your own individual abilities, unless the task is specifically designated as a group project.
