EMANUELA MORETTO graduated in Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Milan in 1993, with a dissertation on Australian Poetry. In 2006 she completed an MA in Crosscultural Communication (with Merit) at The University of Sydney.
Emanuela has extensive experience in the teaching of Italian as a second language or foreign language (SL/FL), and in testing and translating. In the course of her career as a tutor she has taught at both secondary (International Baccalaureat, MLC Burwood and SCEGGS Cremorne) and tertiary levels (UNSW, University of Sydney). For the UNSW Institute of Languages, she gained a reputation teaching in the LOTE, LTE and TESOL programs and as an assessor of various language proficiency tests. In 2007 she co-designed the materials for the NAATI Preparation Course, where she also acted as a guest lecturer and course coordinator. She is a NAATI Professional Translator and Interpreter, specializing in scientific texts and academic research: among her latest work are papers on provisions for end-of-life decision-making for the Plunkett Centre of Ethics, Sydney, presented to the Italian Senate in May 2007.
Emanuela has a wide range of interests, including crosscultural issues applied to media analysis; translation studies; conflict resolution; and on-line activism, which she hopes will be blended into her future research.
