  • [Previous Research] Designated Research Group in Spatial Culture, supported by the University of Western Sydney. Established in 1997; co-ordinated by J. Barrett and D. Del Favero.
  • [Previous Research] Garden Audiences: Public Audiences for Private Gardens in Western Sydney. This research project focused on the front garden and the practice of gardening in Western Sydney communities. The formation of cultural difference (and identity), as represented in homes and civic institutions through various garden projects, are examined within this research, culminating in an exhibition, publication and a conference presentation. The research was funded by a UWS Nepean SEED Research Grant in 1993.
  • [Previous Research] Hypothetically Public (with M. Crayford, Director, Lewers Bequest and Penrith Regional Gallery). May/June 1993. (Exhibition and publication) Lewers Bequest and Penrith Regional Art Gallery. The project explored notions of ‚Äòpublic‚Äô. The project worked with specific sites in western Sydney and involved artists and writers. The artists' interpretations were exhibited in May/June 1993. The accompanying publication, which included theoretical and historical essays, an extensive bibliography and artists' documentation also coincided with the exhibition. Contributors to the catalogue included, Professor Tony Bennett, Dr Susan Best, Dr Phillip Kent and the Native Institution Artists Group. This research project and exhibition was funded by the NSW Ministry for the Arts, Australia Council's Community Environment Art and Design Program and Penrith City Council.
  • [Previous Research] Mapping the Terrain with A. Martin, J. Milne-Holme and E. Spalding. A profile of the perceptions and expectations of graduates educators and employers in western Sydney. This research was completed in 1995 DEET, Evaluations and Investigations Program.
  • [Previous Research] Mapping the Gaps with E. Howe, and L. Forrester. A pilot study on the aspirations of Bachelor of Arts Visual Arts graduates. Completed March 1992. UWS Nepean Seed Research Grant.
