Duration

 
This qualification is normally completed in 1 year of full time study or 2 - 4 years part time.

Entry Requirements

 
A Bachelor degree with a major in a relevant subject area in the humanities or social sciences or equivalent.

Completion Requirements

 
8 units of study (totalling 48 credit points), comprising 1 core unit (MUSM 7033 The Museum Context), a compulsory 2 unit museum internship placement (MUSM 7004 Internship/Placement 1 and MUSM 7005 Internship/Practicum 2), plus 5 electives.
Candidates may undertake a 2 unit dissertation (MUSM7007 Museum Studies Dissertation Part 1 and MUSM7008 Museum Studies Dissertation Part 2) in substitution of 2 elective units.

Attendance Pattern

 
Most units of study require attendance of 2 hrs per unit/per week. Classes are predominantly scheduled in the evenings to accommodate those students with daytime commitments.
Some units of study are offered intensively and require attendance for 1 full day per week (usually a Friday) for 5 weeks during semester

Further Study

 
Candidates intending to use the Masters degree as a qualification for entry to an M.Phil or Ph.D should consult the Program Coordinator prior to enrolment.
