GRADUATE PROGRAMS

Graduate study, whether by research or course work, is offered at certificate, diploma, masters and doctoral levels through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Research and Creative Activity

Applied Research in Performance: Specialised research into voice and a wide variety of related research areas in acoustics, music cognition and physiology.
Composition: Score based and electronic mudic.
Creative Sound Production: Specialising in sound production using creative applications of contemporary technologies.
Music Education: Indigenous and popular music, cross-cultural education studies, childhood musical play, SE Asian Music.
Musicology and Ethnomusicology: European post-war avante grade, Schoenberg, Beethoven sketches, Aquitanian chant, Baroque vocal performance practice, opera and literature, Australian Indigenous music, Japanese and SE Asian music, contemporary popular music.

All applications should be received by the end of October for the first semester entry, and by late April for mid year entry. Applicants are considered by the appropriate Postgraduate Committee. Postgraduate awards are available to exceptionally well qualified applicants.

Diploma of Arts

If you already have an undergraduate Bachelor degree, and would like to brush up on your music skills, why not do a Diploma of Arts? Candidates need only complete 48 credits, (12 junior and 36 senior) in one area of study. The requirements for the Diploma must be completed within 5 calendar years of commencement. Please contact the Arts Music Unit (+61 2 9351 2923) for further details, and consult with the Faculty of Arts for all enrolment procedures.
