Studio Facilities at the Department of Performance Studies
The Department has two studio facilities available to outside practitioners. Both are located in the Department, Level 1 of the Woolley Building, A20, and are accessed from Manning Rd, down the concrete steps opposite the Old Teachers' College.

**Please note: Permission to observe and document performance for teaching and research within, and publicity for, the Department is a condition of use of the Studio**

The Rex Cramphorn Studio (right) was named to commemorate a brilliant man of the theatre who had a long and important involvement with the Department (then a ‘Centre’) and with its predecessor, Theatre Workshop and the Theatre Studies Services Unit. Rex Cramphorn was a highly original director of Shakespeare, French classical and contemporary Australian theatre. His production of Measure for Measure was one of the most memorable moments in the Bicentennial Arts Programme in 1988. He was employed at the Centre as Theatre Projects Co-ordinator at the time of his death in December 1991, at the age of 50.
Practical features and Dimensions
The Studio is an open rectangular space which can be used for rehearsal, workshops or performance in various flexible formats; seating and stage rostra, when needed, are set up within the space.

In addition to the main floor, there is a small foyer space that can accommodate some seats; off this foyer space are toilets for spectators. Above the entrance is a mezzanine with toilets, changing rooms and showers for performers and a viewing gallery used mainly for light and sound operation or video. the adjacent smaller Audio Visual studio can be used as a larger foyer. The Studio is equipped with theatre lights, sound system and other appropriate technologies.
The Audio-Visual Studio is a flat-floor seminar room equipped with audio and visual equipment, as well as blackout shutters. It is suitable for workshops, seminars and video screenings.

Conditions
The conditions of use of the studio spaces is set out in the Department's Conditions for Users.
In addition, all users are required to sign a User's Agreement. All users will need to liaise with the Department’s Technical Director, Russell Emerson.
