Philosophy Postgraduate Coursework 2008 Overview

Requirements

Bachelor of Arts pass degree in Philosophy or an equivalent qualification.

Degree structure

Students will complete eight coursework units of study (48 credit points). With the permission of the Coordinator of Postgraduate Coursework in Philosophy, the student may elect to write a dissertation (between 12,000 and 15,000 words) which counts for two of the eight units. If this option is pursued, once submitted the dissertation cannot be re-written. Candidates must pass each unit of the degree.Candidates must pass each unit of the degree.

Attendance in the MA can be either part-time (one - two units per semester) or full-time (four units each semester).

Part-time candidates normally take one or two units of study in each semester, across six semesters. The dissertation is completed as a series of two units of study (at any time during the candidature).

Full-time candidates normally take three units of study and Dissertation - Part 1 in the March semester; then three units of study and Dissertation - Part 2 in the July semester, completing the degree in one year.

Students will complete six units of study (36 credit points) from the Philosophy postgraduate coursework offerings.

Graduate Diploma in Arts (Philosophy) degree structure 2008

Requirements

Bachelor of Arts pass degree in Philosophy or an equivalent qualification.

Degree structure

Students will complete four units of study (24 credit points) from the Philosophy postgraduate coursework offerings.

Graduate Certificate in Arts (Philosophy) degree structure 2008

If you do not already hold a degree with a major in philosophy, but wish to equip yourself for later postgraduate study in philosophy, then a supplementary undergraduate diploma with a major in Philosophy may be the right option for you.
