Dr Ariel Salleh

Dr Ariel Salleh has taught at New York University; IWS, Manila; York University, Toronto; and was Associate Professor in Social Inquiry at UWS for a number of years. She recently served on the Australian Government's Gene Technology Ethics Committee and on the International Sociological Association Research Committee for Environment and Society. She writes in the field of political ecology, extending the remit of conventional political economy by focusing on the role of reproductive or meta-industrial labour in sustaining relations between humans and nature. She has two books - Ecofeminism as Politics; the anthology Eco-Sufficiency and Global Justice (forthcoming); and some 150 chapters and articles. This work is widely reprinted and debated internationally in ecopolitics and environmental ethics. Salleh is a senior editor of the journal Capitalism Nature Socialism (US), and on the editorial advisory boards of Organization & Environment (US), EcoPolitics (EU), and the International Journal of Water (EU). |
