Dr Pamela Cawthorne has broad-ranging academic and administrative experience in the field of Third World development. She has held administrative positions in the United Nations (UNIDO and UNRWA) in Vienna and at OXFAM before completing postgraduate degrees in the UK. She came to Sydney University in 1994 from the University of New South Wales and from the Open University in the UK where she was a doctoral student and lecturer in Third World Studies. Dr Cawthorneâs research interests include gender and development; industrial development; the Indian and Fijian economies; the global textiles and clothing industry and the use of qualitative fieldwork-based methodologies. She has published with World Development, Journal of Australian Political Economy and in a book Gender, Small-Scale Industry and Development Policy. Her current research is on the use of corporate codes of labour practice and supply chains. |
