The
Department of Studies in Religion within the School of English, Art History,
Film and Media is administered by the Faculty of Arts and located in the
John Woolley Building.
The Department aims
to provide an open, serious, scholarly and critical study of religion.
It offers the widest possible range of courses and its methods of study
on religion include history, philosophy, psychology, phenomenology, sociology,
theology and
biblical scholarship.
There are approximately
25 research postgraduate students and about 20 coursework students presently
enrolled in the Department. The first year of the undergraduate degree
(BA) usually attracts around 200 students with a general undergraduate
student body of aproximately 500.
The Department has
a seminar programme for postgraduate students. All are welcome to attend.
