Garry W. Trompf, Sydney Branch Director of the Centre for Millennial Studies, is Professor in the History of Ideas at the University of Sydney, in the Department of Studies in Religion. 

He was formerly Professor of History at the University of Papua New Guinea. He is founding editor of the monograph series Studies in World Religions; Gnostica; and Sydney Studies in Religion; and he is Chairman of the Association of The Journal of Religious History

His best known monographs are The Idea of Historical Recurrence in Western Thought (vol. 1); Melanesian Religion; Payback; and Early Christian Historiography.
