Religion, Literature and the Arts Current Events RLA Conference 2004 - 1 to 3 October "The Buddha of Suburbia: Arts, Religion and Popular Culture" Society RLA The Society for Studies in Religion, Literature and the Art is located within the Department of Studies in Religion at the University of Sydney. Through the work of scholars and practioners in literature, religion, music, visual arts, philosophy, history, film and dance, the Society explores the human capacity to yearn for the ineffable. This endeavour cuts across the boundaries of faiths and cultures while at the same time revering them and the traditions they uphold. The Society equally values the inherent spirituality of writers and artists who work outside any of the faith systems. A summary of the Society's activities and contact details are given below. Society RLA Activities The Society organises lectures, exhibitions, performances and conferences and publishes the fruits of those events. The Society will commence publication of monographs on the interface between religion, literature and the arts. A newsletter is distributed by email, to which you may
subscribe, without charge. Please contact |
