The New Holy War: A Buddhist Perspective on Terrorism

The new war against terrorism can be viewed as an Abrahamic civil war, with both sides having similar views about the need for a holy war against evil. Unfortunately, one of the main causes of evil in our world has been human attempts to eradicate evil - or what has been viewed as evil. We are deceived by the sharp duality we draw between good and evil. The talk concludes by suggesting an alternative perspective, which distinguishes between two different modes of 'being in the world.'
