Jesús A. Meza was born in Caracas where he graduated as Licenciado en
Comunicación Social at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2002. In addition to his undergraduate education he also holds qualifications in training and assessment, teaching online, as well as Spanish teaching pedagogy and didactics. In Australia Jesús has dedicated himself to teaching Spanish to adults and informing interested parties of up-to-date affairs from Latin America. He does this through his ongoing contributions to various publications and cultural projects. Jesús also supports raising awareness of ‘Hispanism in Australia’. He has been achieving this through his daily
online publication about Australian news in Spanish, and the Spanish Teachers’ Association of NSW, which he pioneered and continues to be involved in.

Jesús is the first postgraduate student enrolled in this Department and is currently working on his MPhil/PhD research in the area of “Critical Discourse Analysis of the Media in Venezuela: its effects on Venezuelan society and its role in the creation of belonging, values, identities and conflicts”.
