Research interests

Dr. Babones' research is centered around the study of income stratification in broad cross-national perspective. Income is the primary axis of social stratification in modern capitalist societies, and the degree of income stratification is now increasing in nearly every country of the world, including Australia. Neither the causes nor the potential consequences of this trend are well-understood. Recently, Dr. Babones has focused much of his work on methods for studying income stratification, particularly measurement issues and causal statistical modeling. He is also working improving our understanding of the relationship between income and health. Dr. Babones received his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University in 2003.
