Services and Expertise

DIU provides services to researchers in the Faculty to support the use of digital technology that suits the requirements of their projects. Services provided by DIU include the following:

  • individual consultation on methodological and technological issues
  • assistance in describing digital components of research projects in grant applications
  • training
  • organisation of seminars and workshops
  • coordination of collaborative projects
  • news about escholarship.

Mailing list

Subscribe: weekly mailout of information about digital research (e.g., grants, conferences, consultation, new tools, DIU activities).

Knowledgebase

We are using collaborative (web 2.0) methods to build a substantial online database of information about the application of digital methods in HASS. This includes synthesis of advice on specific issues, resource lists, reviews of tools, sources of expertise, case studies for successful applications and Frequently Asked Questions.

Application development

DIU can provide application development services, integrating existing tools or developing new tools on a variety of platforms.

  • FieldHelper: desktop application for organising and documenting digital objects (images, audio, notes etc.). Also supports repository submission.
