Five years full-time
Six years full-time with honours

This professional qualification is accredited with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and satisfies all academic requirements for professional recognition as a social worker. The program lets you combine the professional qualification with majors offered through the Bachelor of Arts degree. Students can undertake studies in areas that complement the Bachelor of Social Work - such as Sociology and Social Policy, Gender Studies or Philosophy. The combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Social Work program teaches the relevant skills and knowledge for students interested in becoming social, youth, health, welfare or community workers, or who want to work in residential care, administration, research, policy development or counselling.
Students undertake integrated studies in social sciences, social policy and social work theory and practice, with a strong emphasis on Australian and comparative social welfare studies. In years four and five, students undertake the professional social work program, which includes fieldwork supervised by highly skilled and experienced practitioners in a variety of settings. These placements are an essential part of the course.
