Early Modern Literature and Culture

The Early Modern Literature and Culture (EMLAC) research cluster is based within the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, at the University of Sydney and comprises staff and students involved in Medieval and Renaissance research projects. The group seeks to promote all varieties of enquiry into early modern literature and culture.

Undergraduate, honours, postgraduate and staff research is concentrated and accelerated here with a view to fostering excellent thesis outcomes, high quality research publications, major competitive grant and fellowship successes, and lifelong academic networks.

We want you!

We are particularly interested to hear from you if you are:

  • An established academic researcher (from Australia or overseas) in early modern studies who is interested in visiting or contributing to our research meetings;
  • A postdoctoral (and/or ‘early career’) researcher in early modern literature seeking to apply for fellowships at the University of Sydney. See also the University of Sydney Research Office webpage;
  • An undergraduate student (at any university) interested in pursuing early modern literature research at the University of Sydney at honours and/or postgraduate levels.
