This page will provide you with useful information and resources to help you with your studies.

Arts Network

 

The Arts Network Mentoring Program is about giving new first year students a warm welcome and a great introduction to the Faculty of Arts. The program offers you the chance to meet with other new Arts students and to benefit from the wit and wisdom of senior student mentors.

Refer to the Arts Network for information about events, their first-year transition workshop or becoming a mentor.

WebCT

 

USYD eLearning (WebCT) is where you will find:

  • the computer requirements for studying online
  • information on finding your online courses and logging in
  • a description of USYD eLearning tools and how you will be using them
  • help with some of the common problems you may encounter

The Learning Centre

 

The Learning Centre assists students to develop the generic skills which are necessary for learning and communicating knowledge and ideas at university.

The Centre is committed to helping students to achieve their academic potential throughout their undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Online resources for academic writing

 
WriteSite Logo

The Write Site provides online support to help you develop your academic and professional writing skills. Learning modules provide descriptions of common problems in academic and professional writing and strategies for addressing them.

All University of Sydney staff and students who have a Unikey can access the WriteSite.

To log-in, you need a UniKey username and password. If you do not know your UniKey username or password, go to one of the computer access labs on campus with photo ID (Click here for locations), or call IT Helpdesk on 9351 6000.

Clearer writing logo

Clearer Writing is a four unit online course that will provide strategies to help you write better assignments. It is designed to help students who have problems in organising their ideas and writing coherent, logical sentences and paragraphs.

The University of Sydney Library

 

The Univeristy of Sydney Library is a network of many libraries across several campuses. Information about library services, as well as access to electronic services are available from this web site.

The Counselling Service

 

The University's Counselling Service is available to all local students at the University of Sydney. They operate services on the Camperdown and Cumberland campuses and have a 24 hour crisis service.

Some examples of the types of issues that the counselling service helps students with include:

  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Communicating with academic staff and students–
  • Managing Stress and anxiety
  • Loneliness or isolation
  • Traumatic events
  • Procrastination and Study Issues
  • Mental Health
  • Grief and Loss

The Counselling Service can offer individual counselling, workshops, or online information.
