Into the Academy: Indigenous Knowledges Symposium
|
Presented by the University of Sydney Indigenous Knowledges Research Group (IKRG) Convenor: Vicki Grieves, ARC Indigenous Research Fellow 14 - 15 December 2009 Into the Academy is designed to commence a constructive dialogue about Indigenous Knowledges (IK) approaches to teaching, learning and research and of beginning strategies for ways forward to progress developments on this campus. The symposium will be of interest to those who already teach and/or research in the area of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues but will also interest those who want to develop ways in which Indigenous Australians can truly engage with the Academy. We are fortunate to have Professor Graham Hingangaroa Smith as the keynote speaker – this will also be delivered as a Sydney Ideas Lecture. Professor Smith is a renowned educator who has worked within Aotearoa NZ and Canada on major, transformative developments within Indigenous higher education.
