This is the premier Faculty award, recognising excellence in achievement in all facets of teaching and student learning. Applicants should be experienced in unit coordination at the University, with ongoing responsibility for Unit of Study design, delivery and evaluation. Who is eligible to apply for this award?
The Excellence in Teaching (Design and Practice) Award is aimed at Unit of Study coordinators (individually or in teams) responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of units.
What are the benefits of an Excellence in Teaching (Design and Practice) Award?
Benefits for you applying for an Excellence in Teaching (Design and Practice) Award:
- Recognition of excellence in your teaching.
- Funding to support your teaching or research.
In 2009, the Faculty will provide each Excellence in Teaching (Design and Practice) Award winner with $1000 to be administered through a school, faculty or university account. If a teaching team wins this award, the prize money will be shared equally among team members. - Strengthened teaching component of your next promotion application.
- Good preparation for a University of Sydney Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Teaching application and/or Australian Learning and Teaching Council (formerly Carrick) Citations or Awards.
- Opportunity to share your teaching expertise with others.
- Enhanced status and profile as a teacher and scholar.
Benefits for your Department, School and the Faculty:
- Award of two Scholarship Index points (each year for five years, inclusive of the original year that the Award was granted), leading to funding allocation.
